Maoists Gun Down Two SPOs in Gadchiroli


Nagpur: Stepping attack on the security forces Maoists killed two Special police Officers near a village on the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border on Friday morning.

The deceased were identified as Brijlal Tulavi (27) and Anil Kalko (30). Both were residents of village Kergatta in Chhattisgarh, where they worked as SPOs, Gadchiroli district police said in a press release.

A group of Maoists attacked the duo with sharp-edged weapons near Sawargaon village under Dhanora taluka on the Gadchiroli-Rajnandgaon inter-state highway, police sources said, adding that some Naxal pamphlets were found lying near their bodies.

An offence was registered with Dhanora Police Station in this regard and further investigations are on.

On the other hand the ultras have torched at least 30 vehicles in Chargaon mines, near Chattisgarh on Thursday night and attacked security forces as well. However there were unconfirmed reports about any severe injuries faced by the security forces.
