Maoist burns tractors, mobile towers to enforce strike


Patna: The Maoists have set ablaze eight tractors and a mobile tower in separate incident in Bihar to enforce a two day shutdown in the state protesting against the killing of their men in Jharkhand.

A police officer said, “A group of armed Maoists torched eight tractors in Agrail village in Vaishali and set ablaze a mobile tower in Gausganj village near Paliganj in Patna early Tuesday.”

The shutdown in the state was called in protest of the killing of the 12 maoists including four minors on June 9 in a joint operation by the state police and the CRPF in Palamau district of Jharkhand. The zoal commander of the area was also killed in the attack.

The state police headquarters have directed the district police to intensify the combing operation against the Maoists.
