Mao Leader Siddhartha Declared Absconding By Court

Kolkata: Mao leader Siddhartha Mandal was declared ‘Absconding’ by Alipore court. The division bench of Justice Bidyut Roy pronounced the decision. The court also directed authorities to crook his property.

Mandal has been arrested in 2010 from South 24 Pargana district along with five other Mao cadres. He was later released on bail by Calcutta High Court. He was absconding since his release on bail.

The state government moved Supreme Court against High Court’s decision. SC scrapped Calcutta High Court’s decision and rejected Mandal’s bail plea. It also directed Mandal to appear before Alipore court.

The Alipore Court later issued non-bailable warrant against Mandal after he failed to appear before the court.
