Raipur: A Maosit leader who carried a cash reward of Rs Eight Lakhs on his head was on Monday arrested from Chattishgarh’s Maoist hit Bijapur district.
According to police, the Naxal leader identified as Sodi Ganpat (22), picked up by a team of police from his native Punnur village under Awapalli police station limits.
He had been involved in the attack on a CRPF squad in Sukma last year killing a deputy Commandant and and Assistant Commandant rank officer in Kachlaram village forests under Kistaram police station area.
According to Police, the arrested Naxal was a prominent member of section-1 under military company-2 of battalion-1 of outlawed CPI (Maoist). He had been involved in several ambushes which took place in the region between 2011 and 2014. Some warrants were also pending against him. He is being interrogated by police.
