London: The airport confirmed it had evacuated the terminal after an unattended bag was found inside Terminal Two. A spokesman added: “As always the safety of all our passengers is of paramount importance and we will provide an update on the situation as soon as possible.”
Hundreds of passengers have been seen on the tarmac and outside the terminal building after being told to leave. Others were forced to stay on their planes as security forces dealt with the threat. Video from one passenger stuck on a plane shows people streaming out of the building across the tarmac.
It is understod some planes were also moved away from the building as a precaution.
Bomb disposal teams are said to have arrived at the terminal. Several flights have been delayed as a result of the incident and heavy traffic has been reported in the vicinity of the airport.
Passengers are being allowed into a different section of the airport according to reports, while a cordon still remains around Terminal Two. Arrivals are currently being diverted to Terminal One.
