Manchester Airport Evacuated Over Suspicious Bag, Later Reopened


Manchester: Manchester Airport said on Wednesday that its Terminal 3 building was evacuated due to a  sight of a suspicious bag. Later the terminal was set to reopen after a controlled explosion.

“A precautionary evacuation is taking place while further investigations take place,” Manchester Airport said on Twitter.

Hundreds of people were seen milling around outside the terminal on Wednesday morning. Greater Manchester Police force said that a bomb-disposal team was sent.

Later, a police bomb team carried out a controlled explosion on a suspicious bag that led to the evacuation of passengers and staff.

“Following further inspections, the package is not believed to be a viable device and there is not believed to be any threat at this time,” Greater Manchester Police said in a statement.
