Man Thrashed After Son Sprays Colour On Police Vehicle

Kalyani: A school teacher was allegedly beaten up and dragged to a police station by an Assistant Sub Inspector after the former’s minor son ‘accidentally’ sprayed colour on the latter’s official vehicle at Kalyani in Nadia district, following which an inquiry has been initiated.

Manoranjan Sasmal, a teacher of a government-aided school in Kalyani, in his police complaint said he was beaten up by ASI Suman Ghose for his seven-year-old son’s act during Holi celebration known as Dol Yatra yesterday, Nadia ASP Ajay Prasad said today.

His son was reportedly trying to fix a malfunctioning sprinkler when the colour in it accidentally jetted onto the vehicle, Mr Prasad said.

Mr Sasmal alleged that angered by this, the ASI beat him up with a stick, injuring him on his hands and legs, and dragged him to the nearby police station. However he was released after a while, the ASP said.

The accused ASI, however, denied beating up Mr Sasmal and claimed it was because of the teacher’s arrogant attitude that he had been taken to the police station.

Mr Sasmal was treated for his injuries at a local government hospital.
