Kolkata: After securing a mammoth mandate Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee has reached Raj Bhawan to meet Governor Kesari Nath Tripathi to bid for forming government.
Earlier the day, Mamata conveyened a meeting with all 211 victorious candidates at the party’s Kalighat office. During the meet, she was nominated as the head of TMC’s Legislative council and chief ministerial candidate.
Congratulating all the party members for such a massive victory, the TMC supremo has cautioned several leaders against indulging in internal strife. In the meeting key party leaders like Partha Chatterjee, Mukul Roy and Abhishek Banerjee were also present.
On May 19, TMC had a landslide victory by securing an overwhelming majority with 211 out of 294 seats for the Assembly elections. It crushed the left government’s results as they managed to secure only 32 seats. The Congress got 44 seats. Thus, the CPM-Congress alliance failed miserably in Bengal with their pathetic results. BJP seems to have not made a good impression of theirs in the voters’ minds yet as they managed just 3 seats from Bengal.
After TMC’s victory, Mamata Banerjee had announced that their oath-taking ceremony would be held on May 27 at the Red Road.
