Kolkata: To attract investments in the state, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will
leave for Germany and Italy on Sunday. She will first take a flight to Germany from
Kolkata airport and then go to Milan in Italy.
Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to hold a meeting with the industrialists there. The
CM and the administrative officials will point out to the industrialists the
reasons why they will invest in West Bengal. The state’s cheif secretary and
finance secretary and a team trade delegation will accompany the CM.
The CM said that the is a pre-preparation before upcoming the World Trade Summit.
Every year, at this summit, industrialists and Representatives of merchant
organization from 36-37 countries take part. They also invite the CM several times.
Accepting their invite, the CM said, “If we do not go, then they feel sad.”
The CM also said, “We have to go abroad once a year due to Business summit. We have
to go for the benefits of the state, trade and investments. Although chief
ministers of other states go abroad 15-20 times a year. They have their own flights
too. From this angle, you can West Bengal poor. We always try to go abroad less
frequently. We do not go to foreign land unnecessarily.”
Mamata said that BGPS is a new concept. Investment proposals worth rupees 9 lakh
crore have come surrounding this concept. Out of this, schemes worth 3 lakh 60
thousand crore are being implemented.
A big industrial delegation from Italy and Germany had come to the last World Trade
Summit. The delegation included Italy’s governor too. Mamata Banerjee was invited
by them then. The Leather and Manufacturing Industry in Italy is very developed.
The leather industry have also developed in this state fast. Leather industry have
come to the state from Lucknow. The state is on its way to hold the topmost
position in the leather industry. The CM will invite the Italian industrialists for
investments in West Bengal’s leather industry.
On the other hand, manufacturing industry is developed in Germany. A delegation
from Germany also participated in the last summit. They have promised to send
delegation in the upcoming summit too.
