Kolkata: In an effort to signify Kolkata as a hub for information technology companies in India, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate the ‘iconic’ Asia’s Silicon Valley project on August 13.
Information Technology (IT) minister Bratya Basu, at the state’s Electronics Industry Development Corporation Limited’s programme, informed that a book on the Silicon Valley project will be unveiled on the day the CM will inaugurate the project.
Basu added, “All the major IT players of India will participate in this project. The IT’s advantages and disadvantages, which are of international quality, will be found here.”
The works for building the state’s first Infosys campus and Wipro’s second campus have begun already. There was a delay in the setting up of the campuses despite getting ‘Special Economic Zone’ for the purpose.
The officials of the industry leader NASCOM, had said that Bangla is the perfect place for hardware industry. The main thing about California’s Silicon Valley is its hardware industry. A hardware park in Sonarpur has already started, whereas another such park is about to begin at Naihati and Falta.
Bratya reminded of the five projects of the IT department of WB government which have already received SKOCH Smart Governance Award 2018, at the programme. He spoke about the best performance in the state, too.
