Burdwan: Mati Utsav, an initiative of West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee, is all set to take off from January 19 and will continue till January 25. The Chief Minister will inaugurate it.
Every year, this festival is held at the Lalbaba Ashram ground in Panagarh in Bardhaman district. This year a permanent venue called Mati Tirtha, near Kalna Road has been readied. Already, this new festival ground has become a place of attraction for local residents who are coming in large numbers.
The State Agriculture Marketing Department readied the newly-constructed ‘Mati Tirtha’. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to announce 67 projects worth Rs 746 crore at Mati Utsav.
The Chief Minister will also lay the foundation of ‘Lyangcha Tirtha’ which will be a hub of local sweets of Bardhaman district mihidana, lyangcha and sitabhog.
