Kolkata: BJP delegation met Governor at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. The team was headed by state president Dilip Ghosh. He expressed concern about the prevailing law and order situation in the state, while addressing the media. He went on to say that CM has provoked people earlier too.
“ On Tuesday, our state party office have been attacked. Stones were pelted injuring many of our leaders. TMC supporters were blocking gates and injured BJP cadres couldn’t be rushed to hospital. The attacks have been continuing till date. Leaders have been targeted, offices have been ransacked in many places across West Bengal, Durgapur and Hooghly to name a few. Political scenario is keeping the law and order at stake. It is taking a violent turn,” he said.
He went on to counter Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s allegations. He said that it is unfortunate that TMC leaders are making false claims. He also termed the arrests of top TMC leaders as shocking. They want peace to prevail in Bengal. They have asked the Governor and the Home Ministry to intervene if the situation worsens and hold the reins of the government. Rajnath Singh has sought a report on the same.
On the presence of Central police forces, he said that BJP didn’t want force to be deployed. They just wanted to be secure as many as 100 leaders have been under house arrest. On a lighter note, he said that CM herself doesn’t believe in the credibility of Kolkata Police.
