BJP’s Oldest Ally Shiv Sena Walks Out

New Delhi: This can be a bg political jolt to NDA. Friends have already turne foes. Or is it just a political stunt? The inications were coming since long but a formal announcement by Shiv Sena’s Sanjay raut did come as a surprise for political pundits, “We will fight 2019 Assembly and Lok Sabha elections alone.”

Decision of Shiv Sena to go alone in 2019 was taken in the Party’s national executive meet, Sanjay Raut had moved a resolution in this regard.

The two saffron parties had parted ways just before the 2014 assembly polls following sharp differences over the number of seats each would contest.

They came together after the elections which threw up a hung assembly, with the BJP winning nearly double the number of seats clinched by the Sena. The BJP secured 122 seats against the Sena’s 63 in the 288-member House.

Last year, the BJP and Sena went solo to contest BMC elections. But, again stitch an alliance to be in the power. In 2012, FB leaders had came to garland Netaji and Mamata had turned up at the same time at Red Road. Though it was a government programme but the FB leaders had wanted to show their affection for the leader first.

From then on the Bengal CM had been attending the Netaji’s birthday at Darjeeling. But this time the FB general secretary Naren Chatterjee had been able to convince his party leaders to shift the time and come to garland Netaji after the government programme.
