Mamata Pays Tribute To Netaji, Urges For National Holiday

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee pays tribute to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his 121st birth anniversary. And again she urges to center to declare the day as National Holiday.

Earlier she has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the government to declare birth anniversaries of Swami Vivekananda and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose as national holidays.

Banerjee in a tweet said, “Swami Vivekananda and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose are national and international icons. I have written a letter to the PM urging the GOI to declare both their birthdays (Jan 12 and Jan 23) national holidays”.

Forward Bloc (FB) has decided to shift time to show honour to Netaji’s statue at Red Road and allow Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee to garland the national hero first at 12.15 pm on Tuesday on Netaji’s birthday.

In 2012, FB leaders had came to garland Netaji and Mamata had turned up at the same time at Red Road. Though it was a government programme but the FB leaders had wanted to show their affection for the leader first.

From then on the Bengal CM had been attending the Netaji’s birthday at Darjeeling. But this time the FB general secretary Naren Chatterjee had been able to convince his party leaders to shift the time and come to garland Netaji after the government programme.
