Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday slams centre for not disclosing the complete list of defaulters of public sector banks.
Rajya sabha member Ritabrata Banerjee raised issue on Tuesday and wanted to know that “whether it is a fact that 2.4 lakh core amount of Public sectors banks loans of corporate have been written of by the present union government till September 2017. If so the reason therefore. ”
In a reply, The government of India said that the details of credit information by a public sector bank cannot be disclosed under section 45E.
Mamata shares her view in facebook and voices against centre after seeing this. Mamata wrote on Facebook that ‘I am shocked to see that at a time, when the farmers in the country are crying and committing suicide for their loan burden and asking for waiver of farmers’ loan, the Government of India have not even considered that.’
On the contrary, the Government of India has decided to write off Non-Performing Assets of public sector banks to the tune of Rs.2,41,911 crore from the Financial Year 2014-15 till September, 2017, Mamata added.
Mamata continued with that ‘This is unbelievable. We raised the issue of Non-Performing Assets right at the time of demonetisation. Now the cat is out of the bag and reality bites. Even in Parliament reply, the Government of India says that the details of credit information by a public sector bank cannot be disclosed.’
‘Why is this confidentiality? Whom is the Government trying to protect? We demand immediate disclosure of the complete list of defaulters of public sector banks, whose loans have been written off. Is it not a big, big, big scam ? ? ?’
