Mamata Lays Foundation For Gandhi University In East Midnapore


Tamluk: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for a university named after Mahatma Gandhi that will come up at Tamluk in East Midnapore. This apart, she announced renovating the Gandhi Bhavan at Beleghata in Kolkata at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore.

A separate program was organized by the Mahishadal Panchayat Samity In Bamunia. For the administrative work, Midnapore district was divided by two East and West. But after the division of the district, the demands of separate university in East Midnapore were not being fulfilled.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced earlier that she would set up separate university in East Midnapore, during the visit of Digha. Haldia Development Board gave clearance to set up a university on 20 acres of land in Bamunia Mouza. And on the same day, the work of building new universities began.
