Mamata Extends Support For Mosul Victim Of Bengal

Kolkata: The state government has announced financial support and a job to the next to the kin of the two persons from Nadia who were killed by the IS in Iraq.

Mortal remains of the two out of 39 people from India, who fell victim to the gruesome killing by the IS in Iraq, were brought to their villages in Nadia on Tuesday. Khokan Sikdar was a resident of Tehatta Chitka village in Nadia, while the other victim, Samar Thikadar, was a resident of Chapra Mahakhola area in the same district.

The hopes of their family members came to an end with the announcement of External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj on March 20, that the two were also among the group of 39 who were killed by the IS in Iraq.

The family members of the victims broke into tears when the mortal remains of Sikdar and Thikadar reached their villages.The state government has decided to give a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to each of the two families and job will also be given to one member each of the families.

The step has been taken to extend as much help as possible to the family members of the victims.
