Kolkata: The worsening flood like situation in South Bengal districts forced chief minister Mamata Banerjee to cancel her North Bengal tour scheduled for August 4.
The CM is likely to visit the affected areas to take a stock of the situation and to oversee the relief works going on. The worst affected areas are Kandi in Murshidabad, Panskura in East Midnapore, Arambag in Hooghly, Udaynarayanpur in Howrah and Habra in North 24 Parganas.
Death toll has so far reached 47 in the state. Mamata had earlier cut short her London visit to monitor the degrading flood situation in the state. The CM reached Nabanna ely on Sunday and is coordinating the relief works herself.
