Jalpaiguri: In yet another altercation between Trinamool Congress-led West Bengal government and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Centres, TMC chief Mamata Banerjee will be inaugurating the circuit bench in Jalpaiguri, hours after it was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Citing sources, The inauguration is likely to take place on March 9. The state government has reportedly referred to the Mamata Banerjee inauguration as the ‘formal’ opening of the bench.
In fact, the state administration has claimed that it was the state government which had facilitated the formation of the bench including allocation of land, development of infrastructure and other formalities. The administration has thus argued that the state should have been involved in the inauguration of the circuit bench and the state home secretary has shot off a letter to the Law Ministry expressing its concerns over the matter, reported TimesNow.
The acting chief justice of Calcutta HC will also be there with Mamata for the ‘state’ inauguration- it is reliably learnt. The row comes on the backdrop of an ongoing tussle between the centre and the state. Last week, the CBI officials, who went to quiz Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, were ‘manhandled’. Banerjee had also staged a three-day dharna following the CBI team’s visit to the city police chief’s office in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam.
