Mamata asseses Quake-damage at Uttarkanya


Siliguri: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today held an administrative review meeting at Uttarkanya in SIliguri to assess the damage caused by the earthquake that occurred on 25 April, 2014.After the administrative meeting, WB CM addressed the press. She said that the primary focus of the government right now is to stand beside the people affected. The government is assessing the damage, she added.

“People whose homes have been affected in earthquake can contact local civic bodies, DM, BDO or even police stations,” WB CM said.“This is the time to stand beside the people, not the time for politics. We must not take any action that hampers rescue process,” she appealed. WB CM had chaired a meeting of the disaster management group on Saturday after which a team was rushed to north Bengal. The Chief Minister arrived in north Bengal on Sunday after which she met the families of victims of the earthquake. She also visited the people with earthquake injuries at Siliguri hospital.
