Cooch Behar: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the families of the slain CRPF Jawans who were martyrd on Monday in a Naxal encounter Chattisgarh.
Among the 26 martyrs, 3 of them are from West Bengal. CM Mamata visited martyr Krishnakanta Das’ house at Vivekananda Street in Cooch Behar on Tuesday morning. She met with his relatives and assured to lend out all support to them.

In the afternoon she went to the other martyr’s home while going to the Cooch Behar’s Rashmela Maidan. She met with the family and spoke with them. She assured a job to one of the member.
CM Mamata also announced compensation to the kins of all the 3 martyrs from West Bengal. She said, “Of the 25 CRPF jawans killed in the attack, three hailed from West Bengal. Two were from Cooch Behar and another was from Nadia district. We have decided to give financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the three slain jawans. We will also provide jobs to them”, she told reporters here. “K K Das was only 27-year old and got married recently. We will stand beside them.”
25 CRPF personnel were killed in an ambush by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Tuesday. Mamata Banerjee had on Monday condemned the attack.
