Malda: Bhai dooj was organised in which the workers of Malda’s red light area took part and gave ‘phonta’ to former minister and presently the area’s councillor Krishnendu Narayan Chowdhury. Along with the councillor, another councillor of the same area Prasenjit Das and members of an NGO were also present.
The students of Akramani High School are established today in the society. They are standing by those who are socially backward. This programme was organised by them and took photas from the workers of the red-light area.
According to the organisation, this is the first initiative in Bengal. The workers are also happy by this initiative.
Former district minister Krishnendu Narayan Chowdhury said, “This type of initiative is inspiring. We are happy for being able to stand by those people who are socially backward.” He also said that prior to this, he never got the opportunity to attend or participate in such a programme. He will participate in such programmes in future too.
Tamal Krishna, NGO member said, “They are part of the society.” He said that in order to ensure that these people can live happily with their identity, they feel responsible to organise such programmes so that they can also take part in the programmes of the society.
