Major quake hits Nepal ‘Again’!

Update: Kathmandu airport shuts operation till 2:30 pm. Tremors also jolted Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Home Secretary LC Goyel and India’s ambassador to Nepal. NDRF has been put on alert.

Already in tatters due to a massive earth quake that claimed more than 8,000 lives in the Himalayan nation Nepal, last month. A massive quake measuring 7.4 at the Richter scale jolted Nepal on Tuesday around 12:36 PM. The quake also hit Afghanistan.

The quake is said to have been originated from Sindhupal Chowk in Nepal. According to the reports the quake originated 19 kilometers below the earth surface due to a movement in the tectonic plates.

No report of any casualty has been received yet. The quake was so powerful that aftershocks were felt across the Northern India.

Metro services have been halted at Kolkata and Delhi due to the quake. The shocks were also felt at Bihar, Jharkhan and Uttar Pradesh. As fresh reports are pouring in 1 person was killed in UP.

People rushed out of their homes and offices in cities like Patna in Bihar and Gurgaon near Delhi. “News of an earthquake hitting Nepal again has come. Several parts of India also felt the tremors. MHA is collecting more details and info,” tweeted Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
