Barrackpore: A major fire broke out at Jagaddal’s Anglo Indian Chapdani jute mill on North 24 Parganas. 5 fire tenders were rushed to the area. After 3 hours of struggle, the fire was brought under control.
Jutes worth lakhs of money and expensive machines were gutted in the fire. The labourers of the factory first noticed the fire and tried dousing the flames themselves. But when it turned worse, they informed the fire service. 2 fire tenders rushed in from Kakinara and then 3 more were rushed in later.
Primary investigation reveals short circuit to be the cause of the fire. But the fire officials said that the real cause of fire will be revealed after investigation.
