Berhampore: In a major accident on Monday, three people died and ten were left
injured at Farakka.
The accident took place at Jigri crossing at Farakka. The deceased has been
identified as Babur Ali (38), a resident of Hizaltala area. On Monday, he was on
his was to the Farakka petrol pump. The other two deceased are Mesar Ali (60) of
Mahadeb Nagar area and Aansarul Sheikh (21) of Samserganj’s Aantardipa village.
As per sources, they were going to Farakka via Dhuliyan from the Jharkhand area.
When they were passing through the Jigri area when a lorry lost control and rammed
into the auto they were travelling in. The three died at the spot. Ten other people
were left injured.
The locals rescued the injured and rushed them to the Jangipur sub-divisional
hospital. The police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control
which had gone hay-wire after the incident. The police seized the lorry but could
not catch the driver of the lorry.
