Mahasweta Devi’s Condition Worsens, Stated ‘Critical’


Kolkata: Indian social activist and writer Mahasweta Devi’s condition has been stated as ‘critical’ on Thursday.

As per sources, Mahasweta Devi’s kidney and lungs are not functioning properly. The infection in the blood and urine has increased too. The doctors have kept her under special case for 24 hours.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has decided to return back to Kolkata immediately after she received the news. She would cut short her tour and return back to Kolkata today itself. As per sources, she would go to the hospital to see Mahasweta Devi once she lands at Kolkata.

For the past few weeks, Mahasweta Devi is admitted to a private hospital at Minto Park. She showed some improvements several days back, but her condition worsened on Thursday morning, as per the hospital sources.
