New Delhi: The chief of a Muslim body on Tuesday said that “madrassas have produced terrorists,” reported news agency. “How many Madrassas have produced engineers, doctors, IAS officers? Yes, but some madrassas have produced terrorists,” ANI quoted UP Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Wasim Rizvi as saying.
He added that Madrassas should be affiliated to education boards like CBSE and ICSE. He even suggested that madrassas admit non-Muslim students, and make religious education optional.
“I have written to PM Modi and Uttar Pradesh CM in this regard. It will make our country even stronger,” he said. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi called Rizvi the “biggest joker” for his remarks.
