Kolkata: The secondary education board cancelled the English paper of three Madhyamik examinees on Tuesday after cellphones were found on them in the exam centres.
One of the incidents was reported from a school in Halisahar, North 24-Parganas, and the other two from separate schools in Malda.
At Balivara Saraswati Vidyamadir in Halisahar, an examinee was found taking pictures of the question paper on his cellphone and sending the images through WhatsApp to someone outside the venue, officials said.
The authorities seized his cellphone and barred him from writing the test. Three other examinees were found to be in possession of cellphones at the school before the question papers were distributed to the candidates. The authorities seized the phones but allowed the students to write the test.
