Kolkata: West Bengal transport minister Madan Mitra, currently lodged in Alipore Jail in connection with Saradha scam was taken to SSKM hospital for a medical check-up this morning. His bail plea was rejected yesterday by a city court and was remanded in Judicial Custody till January 16.
According to hospital sources, Mitra was fine and was brought for regular medical check-up after which he was taken back to jail. Mitra, who was arrested by CBI on 12th December, last year, was sent to judicial custody on December 19.
He was admitted to SSKM hospital that very evening after he complained of chest pain and uneasiness and was released from hospital and taken to jail on December 28. Mitra today hit out at the opposition who alleged that he was receiving special attention while in Jail.
“Those who are alleging that I am enjoying undue benefits inside the jail, I invite them to form an all-party committee of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly and visit me in the jail along with the CBI and see how I am actually staying there,” he told reporters. He also said that if proved wrong the opposition will have to answer before the public.
