Madan Mitra’s bail plea withdrawn from HC


Kolkata: Madan Mitra’s bail plea has been withdrawn from the Calcutta High Court. According to court sources, teh lawyers of Madan Mitra has withdrawn the case from the High Court on Wednesday. It is learnt that the lawyers have sought the permission at the division bench of Nishita Matre to withdraw the case. It is also heard that the lawyers will be filing a fresh bail plea at the SGM of Alipore Court in order to free the jailed minister. Previously, the lawyers had appealed before the court to grant Madan Mitra the much wanted bail. But, the bail plea was tossed from one bench to another. Hence, the plea has been withdrawn from the HC on Wednesday.

Madan Mitra was arrested on December 12, 2014 in connection to the Saradha Scam and is kept in jail custody till now. Due to his bad health conditions, he has been a regular visitor to the jail hospital. It is learnt through court sources that Madan is on the verge of serving a sentence which could last upto almost a span of 7 years.
