Madan Mitra Will Be TMC Candidate Again


Kolkata: A year after he walked out on bail, Saradha scam accused and former TMC minister Madan Mitra will back to his maverick self. Forced to the sidelines and fatigued by a long-drawn legal battle, Madan Mitra will be the TMC candidate at Noapara by-election. If all things go to Madan’s side then we see him again in bohemian look.

According To TMC sources, Party has already directed him to start campaign and takes all measures for upcoming by-election. Recently, Congress legislator from Noapara, North 24 Parganas Madhusadan Ghosh had died after protracted illness. After that, by-election will happen at September month for selecting MLA.

Madan Mitra lost at election by thousand votes at Kamarhati centre. But Madan never leave the field. He fights and started to gather fame by campaign. Madan turned all things in his way by his own style campaign. Though he now holds no “official portfolio”, Mitra has been visiting the TMC headquarters “every day”. Madan sit at TMC office from 2 pm to 6 pm and meet people from different districts. Madan worked there as worker. In politics, workers are the highest assets for any party, Madan said.

According to sources, Abhishek Banerjee wants Madan Mitra again in TMC party as heavyweights. At the same time, Madan’s opponent group tried to cut him as candidate. Madan Mitra didn’t speak about this matter. Madan Mitra spoke to Kolkata24x7 that “I don’t know anything about that matter and don’t speak to anyone regarding this matter.”
Madan have always been a social person. ‘Now I am doing it because it gives me immense pleasure irrespective of what the future holds for me’ Madan Mitra said.

Former transport and sports minister Madan Mitra, who was arrested for his involvement in the Saradha scam was granted bail by Alipore court on September 9 after spending 617 days behind the bars. He was arrested on December 12, 2014.
