Kolkata: Atmosphere became tense at the Calcutta High Court during the court’s hearing of CBI’s request to add Section 409 of the Indian Penal Code in the multi crore Saradha scam on Monday.
The defense lawyers had demanded adjournment of the hearing, citing a lawyer’s death. As reported the Judge rejected the request and threatened the defense of a verdict without hearing their arguments.
The Bar Association threatened a boycott following the incident. It is to be noted that Srinjay Bose got bail earlier as SEC 409 was not added in the case then.
CBI is skeptical of the fact that Madan Mitra might get bail if the section is not included and so is desperate to incude the sec 409 in the case.
