Los Angeles Tremor, 4.8


Los Angeles: An earthquake of magnitude 4.8 in the Richter scale occurred 85 miles east of Los Angeles on Wednesday, said U.S Geological Survey. The quake was centered about 2 miles north of Banning, California, and began at 6:42 a.m. local time. Banning is a city of 29,000 people in Riverside County.

The U.S. Geological Survey originally said the quake was a 4.8 magnitude, but it was subsequently downgraded to a 4.5.According to sources, a witness described the quake as a “slow rumble.” A Riverside County sheriff’s dispatcher in the region says it was felt but there were no immediate calls about damage or injury.
