Lok Sabha 2019: EC Orders Re-Polling In Shitalkuchi


Kolkata: Election Commission Of India has ordered re-polling in Shitalkuchi block of Cooch Behar district. The re-poll will take place at the booth number 181 of Shitalkuchi block.

The first phase of Lok Sabha 2019 took place in Cooch Behar and Alipurduar on April 11. The State BJP delegation on Friday held a sit-in protest inside the CEO’s office demanding re-polling in many booths.

The BJP leadership of West Bengal alleged that BJP’s representative has stopped to make entry in Gosainrhaat, Chotoshalbari, Lalbazar, Golenaohati and many booths of Shitalkuchi gram panchayat.

The BJP candidate of Cooch Behar Nishith Pramanik staged protest in front of District Magistrate Office of Cooch Behar demanding re-polling in many booths. After Commission’s assurance, he has withdrawn the Dharna. After party’s top leadership held sit-in protest, Election Commission announced the decision in the evening.

The Election Commission has said that the decision of re-polling has been made after adequate background check and scrutinize the allegations by the opposition party.
