Left parties call for General Strike in State on 30 April


Kolkata: The left parties in the state has called for a state wide general Strike on 30 April protesting against the political violence conducted by the ruling party during the recently concluded Municipal elections in the state. 

During the Municipal elections allegations of violence, rigging and booth jamming were leveled against the ruling Trinamool Congress. The opposition had alleged that their candidates and supporters were threatened and beaten up by the TMC goons.

All the left trade unions have called for the general strike on 30 April. The Strike has been supported by seven left trade unions including CITU. INTUC has supported the strike.
