New Delhi: A large personal devices like laptops may soon be disallowed from check-in bags amid fears that their battery would go undetected and thus lead to drastic consequences, According to a report in The Times of India.
In case of handbags, the cabin crew now receives training on how to handle fires caused by personal electronic devices, as soon as anyone notices smoke coming out from a bag.
It must be noted that international aviation agencies are already mulling options to put a ban on large electronic devices from check-in bags. The TOI article adds that India will follow suit if the decision is taken by any leading aviation agency. This was confirmed by a senior DGCA official.
Currently, power banks, portable mobile chargers, and e-cigarettes are already banned in check-in baggage in India.
