Landslide Kills 15 in Nepal


Kathmandu: A massive landslide triggered by heavy monsoon rains killed at least fifteen people in Nepal’s Taplejung area. Assistant Chief District Officer of Taplejung, Surendra Bhati said, Mewa and Tomour river have been flooded due to the heavy rains.

Many areas like Liwang, Linttep and Khokting have been affected by severe flod and landslide. Authorities have launched relief and rescue operation in the affected areas. It is feared that the death toll may exceed as many people are still missing.
Nepal had registered a record rainfall of 130mm in the last 24 hours.
