Kolkata: Trinamool MP Mukul Roy, who has been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Saradha scam, is set to appear before the central investigating agency on Thursday morning.
Mukul will appear before CBI at CGO complex in Salt Lake Kolkata. The Rajya Sabha MP who was in New Delhi has returned to Kolkata on Wednesday and directly headed to Nananna to meet the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Mukul entered Nabanna at 2 Pm and his meeting with the CM continued for more than one hour. According to political circles, the meeting has sparked off controversy since the MP is scheduled to face uncomfortable questions from CBI officials in case he visits CGO complex on Thursday.
After landing at Kolkata, Roy told reporters, “I am not involved in any immoral activity. I have been called for the sake of investigation.” He also said that he would help the investigators with all the information he has in connection with Saradha Scam. A notice was given to him by CBI on Monday to appear before it. The MP had informed the CBI Joint Director over phone that he would visit CGO complex on Thursday.
On the other, Trinamool Congress General Secretary Partha Chatterjee at a Press Conference alleged conspiracy against CBI saying that it was working on the instructions of BJP and harassing the party’s leaders.
The Saradha Scam has turned into a nightmare for the ruling party of Bengal with two of its MPs and a Minister of Mamata’s Cabinet already behind the bars in connection with the scam. Now, will it be the turn of the Ex Railway Minister and the ‘taken for granted’ No 2 of the AITMC? The question hangs in the bargain.
