Update: Militant group Hizbul Mujahideen claims responsibility for south Kashmir attack that killed 5 cops, 2 security guards.
Jammu: Five policemen and two security guards were killed after suspected terrorists attacked cash van outside Jammu and Kashmir bank’s Kulgam branch in south Kashmir, police said.
The terrorists decamped with SLR rifles.
“The unidentified gunmen today made an unsuccessful attempt to loot a cash van of J&K bank. Thanks to the police personnel on duty,” a senior police official said.
“All the injured have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers,” he said.
Earlier in the day, two Indian jawans were mutilated by Pakistan Army following a ceasefire violation along the LoC in Krishna Ghati sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.
