Kulgam Encounter Ends, 5 Including Top Hizbul Commander Killed

Update: The Kulgam encounter ended on Saturday with the neutralisation of 5 militants
including top Hizbul Commander Gulzar Padder. On the other hand, 2 army personnels
were injured in the operation carried out by the security forces. A huge cache of
arms and ammunition were recovered. Clashes also began at several places. Apart
from disruption of train services across Kashmir, the mobile internet services have
been barred in Kulgam and Anantnag.

Srinagar: Five terrorists were neutralised in an encounter which is underway since
Friday late night at Chowgam Kulgam area of Qazigund.

Initially 3 terrorists were reported to have been killed. Later on the rest were
neutralised too by the joint effort of the police and security forces. As a result
of the encounters, train services have been suspended between Baramulla and
Qazigund in Kashmir.

According to an official, the services between Baramulla and Banihal will remain
suspended on Saturday. This decision has been taken “in view of apprehension of law
and order problem in Kashmir valley, especially south Kashmir.” The authorities
suspended train services across Kashmir on Saturday over the gunfight between
terrorists and the government forces.

The exchange of fire between the two sides is still underway as per reports.

This comes two days after three JeM terrorists were killed by the security forces
in Kakriyal area of Jammu district. It left 12 security personnel injured.
