Kolkata: Phoolbagan to be the first full underground metro station of East- West Metro. It is almost on the verge of completion. This is also the first station of East- West metro.
Phoolbagan will the first underground station after 24 years in Kolkata metro. Mahatma Gandhi Road Station started in 1994 and started functioning in 1995.
The legal complexity was prevailing over the project after its laying foundation programme in 2009. The land sanction was the prime issue behind the its initiation. Calcutta High Court intervention put an end to the land dispute status and the first draft of work is almost on the verge.
The Sealdah to Howrah Maidan route have been diverted as many troubles arises in the second phase of work. The work has failed to maintain the deadline and the expenditure now stands on 6500 crore. 30% hike have been hiked in expense.
Initially, it was said that East-West metro from Sector-V to Phoolbagan will start from 2018 of June and Phoolbagan would be the first full underground metro railway station.
After the first phase of completion, some infrastructural work have been left. Their will separate entry and exit stairs with concrete beam to make the space air tight. Marbel stone has been used on the floor. An emergency door will be there for emergency exit.
