Earthquake jolts Kolkata and certain parts of Northern India


Kolkata: North India was once again rattled by an earthquake this afternoon.National capital Delhi and NCR region felt strong tremors at 12:35 pm. Earth shook for over 20 seconds. Other areas in North India and East India including West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Assam felt the impact of the earthquake.

An earthquake of 7.4 Magnitude was felt in certain parts of Northern India along with Kolkata, Murshidabad, Balurghat and some other places in West Bengal. The places adjoining to the city has also been under the jolt on Tuesday. The metro services have been disrupted and the mobile networks have also been jammed. The people have come out of the skyscrapers and the high rises of the building. After April 25, Kolkata felt one more tremor on tuesday. A person was reported to have been killed in the Sambhal area of Uttar Pradesh due to the collapse of a roof due to the quake

The epicenter of the quake is located at Sindhupal Chowk. After the main quake of 7.4 magnitude, tremors measuring 5.6 and 6.3 were felt within a span of an hour.
