Kolkata seeks Britain’s help to check pollution


Kolkata: Good news for all city dwellers. Britain has taken the initiative to control Kolkata’s pollution level. At a programme held at the council chamber, a booklet was released by the Speaker of Lord’s, D’Souza. The booklet is regarding the control of pollution and to maintain the environmental ecology.

He went on to say that a workshop will also be held with the councilors of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation regarding checking the carbon content in the air, which will in turn reduce the environmental pollution. The workshop is likely to be held in June with fifteen councilors being a part of it. The workshop will continue till December. The main focus of the workshop will be generating awareness among the common people to keep the pollution level under control.

The execution of the project will be held just after the KMC elections, said Mayor Shovan Chatterjee. He also said that the 300 year old city has not been built according to any specific plan.The drainage system and many other things have not been planned in the city. As a result of which, the Kolkatans face unanimous problems.
