Kolkata: Metro Railway of Kolkata has increased the number of metro in seven days to reduce the traffic pressure going in Kolkata. The collapse of Majerhat bridge became troublesome for commuters.
Diamond Harbour Road, one of the major connection between Kolkata and South 24 Pargana. Majerhat bridge standing over the road and connects South Kolkata fast. Many public vehicles, private cars and goods vehicles pass the bridge with thousands of people avails the road everyday.
It’s one month left from the biggest celebration of West Bengal, so the shopping for Durga Puja has started which has doubled the pressure. The CPRO of Kolkata Metro Railway, Indrani Banerjee said that “224 metro runs in week days. 250 metro will run from Saturday. 136 metro will be in service instead of 110 on Sunday. The timing will not be changed.”
Indrani Banerjee said, “Many people are availing metro after the Majerhat tragedy. The pressure has increased in. No certain time has been fixed for the extension.”
