Kolkata: The youngest metro network of the country in Kolkata is all set to run special trains on the Christmas and New Year day. The metro rail authorities announced the late night services on the December 25 and December 31.
Metro Railway sources informed that genrally trains run with lower frequency on holidays. But on the occasion of Christmas, total of 188 trains will ply on up-down route as compared to 110 trains on general holidays. On Sunday, Dec 31, total of 172 train would run with a frequency of nine minutes.
Metro Railway have also made special security arrangements to avoid disruption of metro services on festive days due to any unforeseen circumstances. According to sources, additional forces will be deployed in Esplanade, Park Street and Maidan stations from December 24 to January 1.
Commando forces would be deployed at Esplanade and Park Street stations whereas Rapid Action Force (RAF) teams would be deployed at Metro premises buildings. Along with Special Task Force, RPF’S Special Branch officers would also be there.
