Kolkata: The seventh edition of Kolkata International Children’s Film Festival set to begin on January 19. It is a combine initiative of Hon’ble by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Shishu Kishore Akademi has been organizing children’s film festivals every year since 2011. Theme of this year’s festival is ‘Adventure’.
The festival will showcase films from 33 countries. This programme will run till 27th January. The venues of the programme are Nandan, Rabindra Sadan, Sisir Mancha, Rabindra Tirtha, Star, and Ahindra Mancha.
The nine-day fest will have films in ‘wildlife’, ‘friendship’ and ‘coming-of-age’ categories to foster the spirit of quest and adventure in young minds, a spokesperson of the Shishu Kishore Akademi, an institute funded by the state government, said today.
Over 200 films from 32 countries, including the US, France, Germany, Iran and Kazakhstan, will be screened alongside Indian productions at Nandan, Rabindra Sadan, Sisir Mancha, Rabindra Tirtha, Ahindra Manch and Star Theatre, she said.
The fest will open to Amole Gupte’s action-adventure film ‘Sniff’. Child actor of this film Kushmit Gil and national awarded film ‘Sahoj Pather Goppo’ actors Nur and Samiul will be present at the inaugation progamme.
Sagnik Chatterjee’s documentary ‘Feluda: 50 years of Ray’s Detectives’ will be screened on the concluding day.
An exhibition of Feluda,the biggest attractions of this year’s festival. ‘Feluda Sargram’ included Feluda sketches, the films drafts of the film. The exhibition will be inaugurated at Gaganendra Darshalaya on the opening day. Sandeep Ray will release a assemble book written by emninent persons on Satyajit Ray . The name of the book is ‘Satyajit Akai Aksho’.
This year a new section ‘Celebs Favorite Film’ is being started. In the ‘Tribute’ section Films of Shashi Kapoor and Partha Mukherjee will be showcased.
