Kolkata Celebrates 67 Republic Day


Kolkata: The 67th Republic Day was today celebrated in West Bengal with enthusiasm with the state government stressing its commitment to the sovereign, secular, democratic, republic credentials of the country. In Kolkata, Governor Kesari Nath Tripathi hoisted the tricolour and presided over the march past of armed and police forces at Red Road.


Colourful parade and procession with decorated tableaux portraying the state’s culture and heritage were highlights of the programme, which was attended by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her cabinet colleagues. Indian Army, Navy and Air Force took great pride and honour by participating in the republic day parade. Several Students from all around West Bengal and Kolkata took part in the colourful programe. Various developmental programs of the government were also showcased in the parade.


Mamata tweets with a picture of a flag, “Greetings to everyone on the occasion of 67th Republic Day”.

Keeping aside memories of the sensational murder case of Air force Jawan Abhimanyu Gaud, Red Road Parade was in full swing.
