Kolkata Airport Resumes Operations After FANI Moves To Bangladesh


Kolkata: The Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport or the Kolkata Airport was shut down over the approaching Cyclone Fani. However, it resumed its operations from Saturday 8 am soon after the effect of Fani was gone.

The flight operations at the airport was closed down from Friday 9:30 pm to Saturday 6 pm. Prior to that, all flights from Kolkata Airport were cancelled. 227 flights were cancelled leading to problem for the common people. High alert was sounded in the state too over the Cyclone Fani.

The passengers complained that they were not informed that the airport will be shut down. But it was opened much before the scheduled time. The cyclone did not touch Kolkata, which was expected before, and moved towards Bangladesh.

According to the Alipore MET office, the cyclone was at Hoogly at 2 in the night. After that it went to East Burdwan, Nadia and Murshidabad and then to Bangladesh.
