Kolkata: In the wake of carcass-meat chaos, Kolkata Municipal Corporation will examine food quality in restaurants in the season of festival. On the other hand the condition of kitchen and crockeries will also be under inspection.
The food adulteration fighting department of Kolkata Municipal Corporation said, detection of breaching the rule, restaurants may be subjected to penalties. The food quality will determine its availability in the restaurants.
People across West Bengal comes in Kolkata to visit the biggest celebration of Bengal Durga Puja. The craving for food is also high in the festival season. The fast-food restaurants runs on the toe in these days. Some food would get preserved which put the question mark on the food quality. So such initiative has been taken by Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
Mayor Council Atin Ghosh said, “KMC will conduct a onrush visit in puja days. But the laboratory will be close in puja days so we would not collect sample. Also we do not want anybody to face loss in puja days. The restaurants owners will be informed on this. All the food stalls near Puja Pandals, street food shop will also be under the scrutinization.”
