Kiran Bedi likely to join BJP


New Delhi: Former IPS officer and Member of Anna Hazare’s team Kiran Bedi is likely to join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Bedi along with AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal were the pivotal members Hazare’s team when he launched the anti-corruption crusade for the implementation to the Lokpal Bill. Kejriwal decided to join politics after the movement and formed the Aam Admi Party.

BJP is likely to use Kiran Bedi and former AAP leader Shazia Ilmi against Kejriwal in the upcoming Delhi polls. Kejriwal the 49 day Chief Minister of Delhi had come to power after defeating three-time Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dixit in the previous elections.

Although AAP could not get an absolute majority in the 70 member Vidhan Sabha, it formed the Government taking the support of Arch Rival Congress from outside.

Bedi who have been praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his job termed him as an efficient and capable leader. After the results of the Lok Sabha polls came out on 16 May, Bedi had twitted, “Feel as if the country was orphaned past several years. It finally has a guardian who is caring and capable! We can now focus on creativity.”

The national capital fell under Prisidential rule after the Kejriwal resigned as the Chief Minister. Now fresh elections have been scheduled on 7 february this year to decide the political fate of Delhi.
